"May we?" said the rabbit, the cat, the dog, the pig, the sheep, the chickens, the calf and the goat.

“It's a lovely day,” said Mr Gumpy. "Let's take the old cart-track across the fields." 3 i$ j1 S3 V1 K- ^* O

For a while they drove along happily. The sun shone, the engine chugged and everyone was enjoying the ride.

大家坐在车上，高高兴兴地走了一阵。阳光明媚。车子咔啦咔啦地走着。大家玩得很开心。

Very soon the dark clouds were right overhead.

Mr Gumpy stopped the car. He jumped out, put up the hood, and down came the rain.

汽车陷进烂泥里，动都不能动。

甘伯伯说：“我们抛锚了。”

7 H* h# v! O# n: S"Don't stop." cried Mr Gumpy. "Keep it up! We're nearly there."

Everyone gave a mighty heave the tyres gripped... C9 `! c. j2 `, W9 C+ P
5 z' S# @+ c* G7 g大家推啊，顶啊，抬啊，抗啊，喘大气的喘大气，打滑的打滑，东倒西歪，呼哧呼哧地踩着烂泥。 , A# ?9 ^) @2 \! X: g

They looked up and saw that the sun was shining. + w% m& r+ V. W8 D+ T n) x5 R

大家抬头一看，天上又出现太阳了。
