"May we?" said the rabbit, the cat, the dog, the pig, the sheep, the chickens, the calf and the goat.

“It's a lovely day,” said Mr Gumpy. "Let's take the old cart-track across the fields." % b9 w! _( B/ h u

甘伯伯说：“今天天气不错。我们就从这条古老的土路，直接穿过前面那一片田野好了。”

For a while they drove along happily. The sun shone, the engine chugged and everyone was enjoying the ride.

9 l# E# V4 `/ P/ h: BMr Gumpy stopped the car. He jumped out, put up the hood, and down came the rain.

哪些乌云很快就来到头顶上。

甘伯伯停了车，跳到车外，把车篷架好，雨跟着就下起来了。

The road grew muddier, and muddier, and the wheels began to spin. % o7 J2 x1 d! b; c7 Q# [. b( I* ~

路上的烂泥越来越多，车轮一圈一圈地空转着，车走不动了。

汽车陷进烂泥里，动都不能动。

甘伯伯说：“我们抛锚了。”

大家只好全部下去推车了。

They pushed and shoved and heaved and strained and gasped and shipped and slithered and squelched.

They looked up and saw that the sun was shining.
