And they all piled in.

“It's a lovely day,” said Mr Gumpy. "Let's take the old cart-track across the fields."

甘伯伯说：“今天天气不错。我们就从这条古老的土路，直接穿过前面那一片田野好了。”

For a while they drove along happily. The sun shone, the engine chugged and everyone was enjoying the ride.

大家坐在车上，高高兴兴地走了一阵。阳光明媚。车子咔啦咔啦地走着。大家玩得很开心。

The road grew muddier, and muddier, and the wheels began to spin. " ?3 i3 Z4 O7 ?1 P" n4 A+ E

Mr Gumpy looked at the hill ahead. , o. _ h% m+ b

"Some of you will have to get out and push," he said.

甘伯伯看着前面的小山，对大家说：“看样子你们当中要有几个下去推车才行。”

大家只好全部下去推车了。

They pushed and shoved and heaved and strained and gasped and shipped and slithered and squelched.

Slowly the car began to move...

大家推啊，顶啊，抬啊，抗啊，喘大气的喘大气，打滑的打滑，东倒西歪，呼哧呼哧地踩着烂泥。 0 V% o( M+ x2 U. n! C/ U

好不容易，汽车向前挪了一步。

甘伯伯大叫：“别放松！再往前推，我们快成功了。”

大家抬头一看，天上又出现太阳了。

"We'll drive home across the bridge," said Mr Gumpy.
