Chapter 1: BALLET LESSONS
I love to play ball.
I play shortstop on a team called the Sharks.
We wear neat hats and cool green T-shirts.
第一章：芭蕾课
我喜欢打棒球
我是一个叫Sharks的队中的游击手
Mom puts a pink ribbon in my hair.
She says, “Pink is for girls.” I hate pink.
我穿上了粉色的紧身裤和粉色的拖鞋

In class I sit next to my best friend, Mary Ann.
She is the catcher for the Sharks.
Her mother made her take ballet too.

Mary Ann and I have a deal.
We must keep ballet a secret.
If the other Sharks found out, they would laugh.
They would think we were wimps.
Mary Ann跟我有一个约定
我们要把芭蕾课当成一个秘密
因为Sharks的其他队员发现了 会笑话的
他们会觉得我们是胆小鬼
Madame is our teacher.
She is very old and very strict.
Mary Ann said she saw her smile once.
I must have blinked, because I missed it.
Madame是我们的老师
她非常老 也非常严格
Mary Ann说她只见她笑过一次
我那时候肯定是眨眼了 因为我没看到
Every class starts the same.
First we line up at the barre.
Then we practice the five positions.
First position. Second position.
Third position. I make a face.
There is only one position for me. Shortstop.
每节课的开始都是一样的
首先我们在芭蕾舞室排成排
接着我们练习五种姿势
第一式 第二式
第三式 我做了一个鬼脸
对我来说只有一个姿势
游击手的姿势
Sometimes I pretend I am up at bat.
Madame is our coach.
“Heels on the floor! Shoulders back!
Point the toes!” she shouts.Who knows?
Maybe pointy toes will help my swing.
有时候我假装自己拿着球棒
Madame是我的教练
“脚跟落地！肩膀向后！踮起脚尖！”
她吼着说.谁知道呢?
也许踮起脚尖能帮助我挥球棒
Madame loves flowers.
Last week we were buttercups.
This week we are dandelions.
“Pretend you are a dandelion swaying in the wind,” she says.
She waves her arms.
“Look, I’m stuck in a tornado,” Mary Ann whispers.
She spins around and around really fast.
I giggle.
Madame喜欢花
上星期我们是金凤花
这星期我们是蒲公英
“把自己想象成在风中摇摆的蒲公英”她说
她挥动手臂
“看 我在龙卷风里”Mary Ann轻声说
她飞快地转起了圈
我咯咯笑了起来
Madame walks over to Mary Ann.
My friend is in trouble now!
But our teacher smiles.
“Very lively, my dear!” she says.
Madame走向Mary Ann
我的朋友要遭殃了！
但是老师笑了
“非常生动 亲爱的！”她说
