A big box came in the mail for Zack.
扎克收到了了一个大盒子。
It was from Zack's uncle Jim in Florida.
Zack shook the box.
What could it be? he wondered.
来自扎克在佛罗里达的叔叔吉姆。
扎克摇了摇盒子。
会是什么？他想知道。
He untied the bow and ripped off the paper.
There was another box inside.
Zack lifted the lid.
他解开绳子，撕开纸盒。
里面还有一个盒子。
扎克掀开了盖子。
Inside was an alligator key chain,
with a note from Uncle Jim.
It said,
"DEAR ZACK,
HERE íS A PRESENT FOR Y0U.
HAVE FUN!
LOVE,
YOUR UNCLE JiM
P.S WATER BRIDGET."
里面是鳄鱼钥匙链，
上面有吉姆叔叔的一张纸条。
上面写着，
“亲爱的扎克，
送你一个礼物。祝你快乐！
爱你的叔叔吉姆。
PS水里的布里奇特。”
Zack held up the key chain.
"This must be Bridget," he said.
Zack put Bridget in the sink
and turned on the faucet.
扎克举起钥匙链。
“这个一定是布里奇特，”他说。
扎克把布里奇特放进水池，打开水龙头。
Bridget began to move-
her head turned, her tail curled.
布里奇特开始移动了，
她的头转动了，她的尾巴卷曲着。
Bridget grew bigger and bigger.
Soon she filled the sink.
布里奇特越来越大了。

Zack moved Bridget to the tub and turned on the shower.
Bridget stretched and sighed.
"That feels so good!" she said.
Zack watched.
扎克把布丽奇特搬到浴缸里，打开淋浴。
布里奇特伸了懒腰，叹了口气。
“感觉真好啊！”她说。扎克看着她。
Bridget grew larger and larger.
She grew out of the tub and over the side.
布里奇特长得更大了，
她已经超出浴缸的边沿。
Bridget moaned and groaned and whipped her tail.
She splashed water everywhere.
"What is going on in there?" called Zacks mother.
"I am watering the alligator," said Zack.
" Alligator! What alligator?"
"The one Uncle Jim sent," Zack said.
He heard his mother laugh.
"I see," she said.
"Well, clean up when you are done."
"I will," said Zack.
布里奇特呻吟着，鞭打着她的尾巴。
她把水溅得到处都是，
“里面怎么了？”扎克斯妈妈问道。
“我在给鳄鱼洗澡，”扎克说。
“鳄鱼！什么鳄鱼？”
“吉姆叔叔送来的那个，”扎克说，
他听到了他妈妈的笑声，

Bridget crawled out of the tub and onto the floor.
"I am hungry," she said.
"Do you have any fish?"
"I don't know," said Zack.
"Let's go see."
布里奇特从浴缸里爬出来，爬到地板上。
“我饿了，你有鱼吗？”她说。
“我不知道，”扎克说，“我们去看看。”
Bridget followed Zack down the stairs
and into the kitchen.
布里奇特跟着扎克下了楼梯，进了厨房。
Zack opened the refrigerator door.
"No fish?" said Bridget.
"No." said Zack. "No fish."
But here is some meat loaf.
扎克打开冰箱的门，
“没有鱼？”布里奇特问。
“是的，没有鱼，但这是一些肉饼。”扎克说。
"I can fix you a Meat Loaf Special!"
"What is that?" asked Bridget.
"A surprise," said Zack.
"I love surprises!" said Bridget.

“我喜欢惊喜！”布里奇特说。
Bridget went into the living room
and stretched out on the sofa.
The sofa shook.
Bridget looked at the TV.

"What a funny-looking box!" she said.
Then she hollered to Zack,
"Hurry up with the food!"
"I am coming!" said Zack.
“多滑稽的盒子啊！”她说。
然后她对扎克吼道，“快点拿食物来！”
“我来了！”扎克说。
He was making his Meat Loaf Special-meat loaf,
peanut butter,mustard, banana,
and a couple of pickles.
"Zack, what are you doing?" asked his mother.
"I am fixing some meat loaf for Bridget."
"Who is Bridget?"
"The alligator," said Zack.
"Oh, of course," said Mother.
他在做特制肉饼——肉饼-、花生酱、
芥末、香蕉和几个泡菜。
“扎克，你在做什么？”他母亲问。
“我正在为布里奇特做些肉卷。”
“布里奇特是谁？”
“鳄鱼，”扎克说，
“哦，当然，”母亲说。
"Well. save some for dinner."
"I will," said Zack.
“ 嗯，留点晚饭吃吧。 ”

Bridget ate every bite of Zack's Meat Loaf Special.
"Delicious!" she said.
"I have never eaten anything like that before.
Back home in the Glades, I eat mostly fish
and snakes and slugs.
布里奇特吃了扎克特色肉饼的每一口。
“很好吃！”她说。
我以前从来没有吃过如此美味的东西。
在Glades的家里，我吃的大多是鱼、蛇和鼻涕虫。
Suddenly Bridget jumped up from the sofa.
"Time for a walk, ' she said.
Bridget wobbled to the door.
突然布里奇特从沙发上跳了下来。
“该散散步了，”她说。
布里奇特摇摇晃晃地走到门口。
Zack followed.
Bridget's long tail knocked over a chair
and some books off a table.
扎克跟着。
布里奇特的长尾巴把一张椅子
和几本书从桌子上打翻了。
Zack picked up the chair and the books.
"We are going out, Mom," he called.
"We?" she asked.
扎克捡起椅子和书。
“我们要出去了，妈妈，”他说道，
“我们？”她问。
"Oh, yes, you and Bridget. I forgot.
Well, don't be too long.
Dad will be home soon."
“哦，是的，你和布里奇特，我忘了。
好吧，不要太久，爸爸很快就会回来。”
Outside, Bridget was wrestling with the garden hose.
"I will get you," she growled.
She gave the hose a big bite.
Water squirted everywhere.
外面，布里奇特在和花园的水管搏斗。
“我会抓住你的，”她咆哮着，
“她咬了一口水管，水喷得到处都是。”
Zack ran to turn off the water.
"That snake will not bother anyone
ever again!" said Bridget.
扎克跑去把水关掉。

Zack sighed and shook his head.
Bridget took off down the sidewalk.
Zack followed.
扎克叹了口气，摇摇头。
布里奇特从人行道上下来，扎克跟在后面。
Just then the mail man pulled up in his truck.
"What is that?" cried Bridget.
就在这时，邮递员把车停了下来。
“那是什么？”布里奇特叫道。
Before Zack could answer,
Bridget attacked!
She bit the tire of the truck.
Air hissed out.
扎克还没来得及回答，布里奇特就袭击了！
她咬了卡车的轮胎，轮胎气体发出嘶嘶声。
"Dogs are bad enough," shouted the mailman,
"but I cannot handle this.
No, sir! Not alligators!"
The mailman jumped into his truck
and drove away with a flat tire.
Klump! Klump! Klump!
Bridget shook her head.
"I am glad we don't have those in the Glades," she said.
Zack tried to say something,
but Bridget was off again.
“狗已经够坏了，”邮递员喊道，
“但我处理不了这件事。不，先生！不是鳄鱼！”
邮递员跳上他的卡车，
带着一条漏气的轮胎开走了。
Klump! Klump! Klump!
布丽奇特摇摇头。

They came to the park.
Bridget wanted to swing.
After that,
she climbed the monkey bars.

Then she jumped on the seesaw.
Zack had never seen anyone seesaw by herself.

Next, Bridget ran to the merry-go-round.
Round and round she went.

她一圈又一圈地转着。
Bridget began to sing.
"Oh, I am a gator from the Glades,
and I can do anything-
and I mean anything!"
布里奇特开始唱歌。
“噢，我是一只来自Glades的鳄鱼，
我可以做任何事，我是指任何事！”
Bridget got so dizzy,
she fell off the merry-go-round.
Zack helped Bridget up.
Just then his best friend, Turk,
rode up on his bicycle.
"Hey, Zack!" said Turk.
"Where did you get that alligator?"
"From my uncle Jim," said Zack.
"Some uncle!" Turk said.
Suddenly Bridget shouted,
"What's that fuzzy-wuzzy?"
布里奇特头晕目眩，从旋转木马上摔了下来。
扎克帮布里奇特站了起来。
就在这时，他最好的朋友，
图克骑着他的自行车经过。
“嘿，扎克！”图克说，
“你从哪里弄到那条短吻鳄的？”
“我叔叔吉姆，”扎克说，
“有些叔叔！”图克说，
布丽奇特突然喊道，“那是什么毛茸茸的？”
The woman took one look at Bridget
and picked up her dog.
"Come on, Poopsie," she said.
"Let Mama take you home."
那个女人看了一眼布里奇特，捡起了她的狗。
“来吧，波普西，”她说，“我让妈妈送你回家。”
Bridget did a cartwheel.
"Who would want that fuzzy-wuzzy anyway?"
she said."I am thirsty, not hungry."
布里奇特做了个侧手翻。
“谁会想要那个毛茸茸的？”
她说，“我渴了，不饿。”
Bridget did a quick one-two,
and hop-skipped to the fountain.
She drank big gulps of water.
Zack and Turk watched.
"Will you bring Bridget to school?" asked Turk.
"I don't know," said Zack.
A policeman came over.
"You need a leash for that alligator," he said.
"There is a law, you know!"
"Yes, sir, " said Zack.
布里奇特快速地跳了一次-两次，
然后跳到了喷泉，她喝了一大口水。
扎克和图克看着。
“你会带布里奇特去上学吗？”图克问道，
“我不知道，”扎克说。
一个JC过来了。
他说，“你需要给那条鳄鱼系上一条皮带。
你知道，这是法律规定。”
“是的，先生，”扎克说。
The policeman frowned.
"Well, keep him under control."
"Him?" cried Bridget.
"Well, I beg his pardon! How rude!"
"Hasn't he ever seen a girl gator before?"
JC皱起眉头。
“好吧，控制住他”
“他？”布里奇叫道。
“好吧，我请他重复一遍！真无礼！”
“他以前没见过小母鳄鱼吗？”
"You should bring her to school, " said Turk.
"Maybe," said Zack.
“你应该带她去学校，”图克说。
“也许吧，”扎克说。
Zack and Turk rode Bridget around the park.
扎克和图克骑着布里奇特在公园里转悠。
Suddenly Bridget started to shrink.
"I need more water," she said.
Zack and Turk helped her to the fountain.
突然布里奇特开始收缩。
“我需要更多的水，”她说。
扎克和图克扶她到喷泉。
Bridget slurped the cool water.
"This place is too dry," she said.
"In the Glades,there is plenty of water
and moss and tall grass."
"What are the Glades?" asked Turk.
"The Everglades," said Zack.
"They are in Florida,
where my uncle Jim lives."
布里奇特喝着凉水。
她说，“这个地方太干了。在Glades，
有大量的水、苔藓和高大的草。”
“什么是Glades？”图克问。
“沼泽地，”扎克说。
“他们在佛罗里达，我叔叔吉姆住的地方。”
"Do you think he could send me an alligator?"
asked Turk.
"I don't know," said Zack.
"I will ask him."
"That would be great!" said Turk.

“那太好了！”图克说。
"We have to go now," said Zack.
"Don't forget to bring Bridgetto school!" yelled Turk.
"Oh, please!" Bridget said to Zack.
"I want to see what school is like!"
"We will see,"said Zack.

“别忘了把布里奇特带到学校来！”图克喊道，
“噢，求你了！”“布里奇特对扎克说，
“我想看看学校是什么样的！”
“我们会看到的，”扎克说。
On the way home,
Bridget was shrinking more and more.
She looked up at Zack with big,
shiny alligator eyes.
"Will you water me again?" she asked.
"I will water you every day," said Zack.
"Good!" said Bridget.
回家的路上，布里奇特收缩得越来越厉害了。
她抬起头来，用闪闪发亮的鳄鱼大眼睛看着扎克。
“你能再给我浇水吗？”她问，
“我每天都给你浇水，”扎克说。
“很好！”布里奇特说。
Bridget was getting smaller and smaller.
She bobbed her head up and down and began singing.
"I am a gator from the Glades,
and I like to have fun every day. Oh, yeah!"
布里奇特变得越来越小了。
她上下摇头，开始唱歌。
“我是一只来自Glades的鳄鱼，
我喜欢每天都玩得开心。哦耶！”
When they got home,
Bridget was key chain size.
Zack put her safely in his pocket.
"Hello," said Zacks father.
"Your mother said you were out
with the alligator.May I see it?"
"Yes, sir," said Zack.
Zack pulled out the key chain
with a small alligator hanging from it.
"That's very nice," said his father.
"Now go wash up for dinner."
当他们回家的时候，
布里奇特变成钥匙链的大小。
扎克把她安全地放进了他的口袋里。
“喂。”扎克的父亲说，
“你妈妈说你和鳄鱼出去了。我能看看吗？”
“是的，爸爸，”扎克说。
扎克拿出钥匙链，上面挂着一条小鳄鱼。
他的父亲说，“这很漂亮，现在去洗手吃晚饭吧。”
Zack went upstairs to his room.
He could hear his mother tell his father
they would have chicken for dinner
instead of meat loaf.
扎克上楼去了他的房间。
他能听到他的母亲告诉他的父亲，
他们晚餐吃鸡肉，而不是吃肉面包。
"Are you all right?" whispered Zack.
"Never better," Bridget said.She yawned.
"Don't forget to water me tomorrow."
"I won't," said Zack.
“ 你还好吗？”扎克低声说。
“再好不过了。”布里奇特说，她打哈欠了。
“明天别忘了给我浇水。”
“我不会的，”扎克说。
Zack put Bridget back in his pocket.
"Zack!" called Mother. "Dinner is ready."
"I am coming!" Zack called back.
Zack felt Bridget move.
扎克把布里奇特放回他的口袋。
“扎克！晚餐准备好了。”妈妈喊道。
“我来了！”扎克回道，
扎克感觉布里奇特动了。
He patted his pocket and smiled.
他拍拍口袋，然后笑了。
