In the far North,lived a bear named Grizzwold. 在遥远的北方,住着一只名叫格瑞兹伍德的熊。 Grizzwold was so big three rabbits could sit in his footprint. 格瑞兹伍德的身材很是魁梧,他的脚印大得都可以容下三只兔子坐进去。 When he went fishing,the river only came to his knees. 当他去捕鱼时,河水只没到他的膝盖处。 Other bears had no trouble going into caves to sleep. 其他的熊可以毫不费力的去山洞里睡觉。 Grizzwold always got stuck. 格瑞兹伍德总是被卡住进不去。 He had to sleep out in the open. 他不得不睡在露天的洞外。 But he didn't mind. 不过他毫不在意。 He had a nice coat of fur to keep him warm. 因为他有自己那厚厚的皮毛为他保暖。 No other animal dared wake him. 其他动物都不敢吵醒他。 One morning there was a loud noise in the forest. 一天早上,森林里传来一阵巨响。 All the other bears ran away. 其余的熊都被吓跑了。 Grizzwold went to see what it was. 格瑞兹伍德走了过去,他要看看到底发生了什么事。 He saw men chopping down trees. 他看到人类在砍树。 "Timber!" they shouted. 还喊道:"嘿,木材啊!" "What's the big idea?" asked Grizzwold. "你们想干什么?"格瑞兹伍德问道。 "What are you doing to my forest?" "你们要对我的森林做什么?" "We are sorry,"said the men. "很抱歉。"人们说。 "We have to send these logs down the river to the mill.They will be made into paper." "我们要把这些木材通过水路运到工厂,用来造纸。" "I can 't live in a forest with no trees," said Grizzwold. "没有树木的森林我没法居住呀,"格瑞兹伍德说道。 He went to look for a new place to live. 于是,他开始去寻找新的住处。 "Do you know where there is a nice forest?"he asked. "嘿,你知道哪里有美丽的森林吗?"他问道。 "You won't find one up here," said a mountain goat. "你在这儿是找不到森林的。"一只山羊说。 "Do you know where there is a nice forest?" he asked. "你知道哪里有美丽的草原吗?"他又问道。 "Boy,are you lost!"said a desert lizard. "孩子,你迷路了!"一只沙漠蜥蜴说。 Grizzwold looked until he saw houses. 格瑞兹伍德找啊找,直到他看到了一些房子。 "What can I do here?"he asked. "我在这里能做什么呢?"他问。 "You can be a bearskin rug,"said some people. "你可以成为熊毛地毯,"一些人说。 They let him into their house. 人们让他走进屋内。 Grizzwold lay down on the floor. 格瑞兹伍德躺在地板上。 The people stepped all over him. 人们踩着他过去。 "Ow!I don't like this," said Grizzwold. "噢!我不喜欢这样," 他说。 He left the house. 他离开了那幢房子。 Grizzwold saw a light pole. 格瑞兹伍德看到一根灯杆。 "I'll climb that tree,"he said. "我要爬到那棵树上,"他说。 "I was here first,"said a cat. "你看上去像极了一只真正的熊。" "Thank you,"said Grizzwold. "谢谢,"格瑞兹伍德说。 The people started to dance. 人们开始跳舞了。 Grizzwold started to dance too. 格瑞兹伍德也跟着跳起来。 "It is time to take off our masks," said somebody. "好了,是时候摘下我们的面具了,"有人说道。 All the people took off their masks. 所有的人脱下了面具。 "Take off yours too,"they said to Grizzwold. "你也摘下面具吧,"他们对格瑞兹伍德说。 "I can't,"he said. "摘不掉的,"他说。 "This is my real face." "这是我真正的样子。" "You don't belong here," said the people. "那你不属于这里,"人们说。 "You belong in the zoo." "你应该待在动物园里。" Grizzwold went to the zoo. 格瑞兹伍德便去了动物园。 The bears were begging for peanuts. 那里的熊们正在向人们乞求花生。 Grizzwold begged too. 格瑞兹伍德也学着他们向人们祈求。 "Please don't stay,"said the bears. "请不要呆在这里。"那里的熊说。 "We need all the peanuts we get.Try the circus." "我们需要所有的花生。你去马戏团试试吧。" Grizzwold went to the circus. 格瑞兹伍德又去了马戏团。 They put skates on him. 马戏团里的人给他穿上**鞋。 He went FLOP! 他呀,总是站不稳,老是摔倒。 They put him on a bicycle. 人们让他骑自行车。 He went CRASH! "哎呦!"他又摔跤了! They tried to make him stand on his head. 人们便让他倒立。 He couldn't do that either! 可是,他还是做不好! "I guess it takes practice,"said Grizzwold. "我想这需要练习,"格瑞兹伍德说。 "It sure does, "said the trained bears. "那是当然的。"其他受过训练的熊说。 Grizzwold tried to rest. 格瑞兹伍德想要在路边休息一下。 "You can't park here,"said a policeman. "您不能在这里休息,"一个JC走过来说。 "I'll find a place to park,"said Grizzwold. "我要找到一个可以休息的地方,"格瑞兹伍德说。 He ran until he came to a nice forest. 他跑呀跑直到他来到了一片美丽的森林。 "I'm very glad to be here,"he said. "来到这里,我很开心,"他说。 "We are very glad you are here too,"said some hunters. "我们也很高兴你在这里,"几个猎人说道。 They took aim. 他们用枪瞄准他。 "Don't shoot!" said a ranger. "不许开枪!"一名管理员赶过来说。 "This is a national park.No hunting allowed." "这里是国家公园。禁止打猎。" The hunters left. 猎人们便扫兴的离开了。 "Thank you,"said Grizzwold. "谢谢你,"格瑞兹伍德说。 "You will be safe here,"said the ranger. "放心,你在这里很安全,"管理员说。 "People cannot shoot animals here.They can only shoot pictures." "这里,不允许射杀动物,只允许拍照。" All the people wanted to take Grizzwold's picture. 所有的人都想为格瑞兹伍德拍照。 He was the biggest bear they had ever seen. 他可是人们见过的最大的熊了。 "Thanks for posing for us," they said. "谢谢你这么配合,为我们摆POSE,"人们说。 "This is the life for me," said Grizzwold. "哇!这才是我想要的生活啊,"格瑞兹伍德说。 He was very happy. 从此,他快乐的生活着。 -END-
