对于国内大多数没有英文阅读基础的孩子来说，这套书完全适合：0-7岁

内容：

Captain Cat joined the army.

He went in when nobody was looking.

猫上校趁人不注意的时候来到了军营。

The soldiers marched in a parade."Left, right—left, right..."

士兵们排着队齐步往前走。“左右——右左...”

Captain Cat kept in step.

He knew one foot from the other.

猫上校和他们一起齐步走。

他知道该如何一步接一步的走。

"That cat has more stripes than we have,"said a corporal to a sergeant.

“那只猫身上的条纹比我们得多，”下士对中士说。

"Meow," said Captain Cat.Another sergeant looked at the cat."Yes, sir!" he said and laughed.

“喵呜，”猫上校说。另一位中士看着猫，“是的，长官！”他边说边笑。

From then on everybody started saying,“Here.Captain Cat,”when they wanted him,instead of “Here,kitty kitty.”

从那时起，每个人都在找他的时候开始称呼他“这里，猫上校，”而不是用“过来，小猫咪。”

But sometimes the soldiers had no time for Captain Cat.

“I have to clean the bathrooms,”said one soldier.

但是有时候，士兵们没有时间和猫上校多做交流。“我得去打扫厕所啦，”一个士兵说。

“I have to sweep the grounds,”said another soldier.

“我得擦地，”另一个士兵说。

One soldier named Pete always found time for Captain Cat,even when he was on guard duty.

一位名叫Pete的士兵经常腾出时间和猫上校相处，甚至在他执勤的时候。

“You remind me of a cat back home,”he said,and scratched Captain Cat behind the ears.

“你让我想起一只回家的猫，”他说着，并抓抓猫上校的耳朵后面。

The general made Pete do kitchen duty.Captain Cat kept him company.Pete let Captain Cat play with the potato peels.

将军让Pete去厨房做值日。猫上校陪伴着Pete。Pete猫上校和马铃薯皮玩儿。

“Are you my buddy?”asked Pete.

“Me-ow，”said Captain Cat.

“你是我的好兄弟吗？”Pete问。“喵，”猫上校说。

The next morning a bugle blew.Oh,how Pete hated to get up!

But Captain Cat sprang right out of bed.

第二天早晨吹响号角，哦，Pete讨厌起床。但是猫上校突然从床上跳了下来。

He had to check out the garbage before it was taken away.

他需要在垃圾桶被收走前检查一下垃圾桶。

Then it was time for inspeaction Everybody lined up.

Captain Cat lined up,too.

然后到了检查的时间，大家开始排队，猫上校也加入了排队。

The general fixed a soldier's gun.He fixed Pete's hat.

将军修理了一名士兵的枪，他还整理了Pete的帽子。

All he could fix for Captain Cat were his whiskers.

“Forward march!”said the general.

但他只能为猫上校修理他的胡须。“齐步走！”将军说。

The soldiers went one way.Captain Cat went the other way.He had to chase some birds.

士兵们走一条路，猫上校走另一条。他要追几只鸟儿。

The soldiers crawled in the mud.They hiked through rain and sleet.

士兵们在泥地里缓慢前进，他们徒步穿过雨夹雪和冰雹。

But not Captain Cat!He was taking a nap on Pete's bed.

但队伍中没有猫上校，他当时正在Pete的床上打盹儿呢。

Time for chow!Pete and the other soldiers rushed into the mess hall to get plates of nice,hot food.

Captain Cat wished Pete would get him a plate with a mouse.

是时候去食堂打饭啦！Pete和其他士兵冲进食堂，买了一些好吃的热食。

猫上校希望Pete能给他在餐盘上放一只老鼠。

“Are you my buddy?”asked Pete.“Me-ow，”said Captain Cat.

“你是我的好哥们吗？”Pete问。“喵~”猫上校说答道。

Lights out!Everyone went to sleep and dreamed of loved ones.

熄灯了！每个人都开始睡觉了，梦见了亲人。

Captain Cat dreamed of his loved one,too.

猫上校也梦到了他的亲人。
