团结 Teamwork
有一个老农夫，他有好几个儿子。可是他的儿子经常吵吵闹闹，甚至动手打架。老农夫责骂他们，劝告他们，要他们相互谦让，相互谅解，但是都没有什么效果。因为这几个儿子根本不听他的。
Onceupon a time, an old farmer had several sons. The sons often quarreled and evenused their fists to hit each other. The old farmer scolded them and tired topersuade them to modest and thoughtful. But that didn’t work, because his sons simplywouldn’t listen.
后来，农夫想出了一个办法：有一天，他吧几个儿子叫到跟前，拿出一捆小树枝，说：“今天我要试试你们的力气，看谁能把这捆小树枝折断了。”
Butthen the old farmer had a good idea. One day, he asked his sons to come seehim. He took out a bundle of little branches and said: “ Today I will test yourstrength and see who can break this bundle of little branches.”
几个儿子都想在父亲面前显示自己力气大，个个都使劲地折，但是没有谁能够折断这捆小树枝。
Allthe sons wanted to prove that they were the strongest of the bunch. They usedall their strength to try and break the bundle, but none of them succeeded.
接着，老农夫把这捆小树枝拆开，分给孩子们每人一根小树枝，说：“现在你们再试试看，能不能把手里的树枝折断。”几个儿子稍一用力，就把手上的小树枝轻易地折断了。
Then the old farmer took the bundle apart andgave each son one little branch. He said to them:” Now try again and seewhether you can break in your hand.” With just a little bit of strength all thesons broke the branches in their hands.
老农夫指着地上被折断的树枝，语重心长地说：“孩子们，你们看到了吧，你们都试过了吧，单根的树枝是很容易折断的，而成捆的树枝谁也折不断，这个道理你们应该牢牢记住：你们哪，平时不和睦，就会像这根单根的树枝一样；只有团结在一起，才会有力量的！
“My sons,” the old farmer said seriously,pointing to the broken branches on the ground: “Now you know: one single branchis easily broken; but no one can break a bundle of branches. Only throughteamwork can you be strong!”
从此以后，老农夫的儿子再也不打架不争吵了。他们相互帮助，一家人过得和睦快乐。
Fromthen on the old farmer’s sons never quarreled or fought with each other everagain. They helped one another, and the whole family lived a happy and peacefullife.
