Garland, firs, branches, mistletoe, seasonal flowers-it adds life to your home. "I always have lots of Potted White Amaryllis and Paper Whites at the beginning of the Season," says designer Mark D. Sikes. "They last through the holidays and look and feel festive."

"It's a great way to bring the holiday to the home without a huge fuss. I think flowers in a sexy vessel brings the holidays home immediately," advises interior designer Robert Passal.

"I deck our home in fir and magnolia garlands. The smell and the look are so festive," says designer Sara Gilbane. "The holidays are about spreading cheer and these decorations are manifestations of that joy."

"Be it candlelight, glittered decorations or even something simple like mercury glass votive or vases," says interior designer and blogger, Nicole Gibbons. "A little bit of holiday shimmer and sparkle is always festive way to welcome the holidays into your home."

"Deck up the 5 senses," advises designer Ryan Saghian. "Fill the home with beautiful scented candles that will not only warm up the space but give the home a festive fragrance."

"You might not have a fireplace but candles will at least make you feel warm, golden and the traditions of the holidays," advise interior designer Jamie Drake.

A designer favorite? A LOT of votives.

This doesn't have to be done with a candle-try making your own! "Mulling spices on the stove or a holiday candle will make your home feel cozy and festive," says designer and founder of St. Frank Textiles, Christina Bryant.

And what's more cozy than cashmere? "Colorful cashmere throws add a festive texture to your décor," says Saghian.

"Something simple and natural," says interior designer Gideon Mendelson. "Sometimes I'll go outside and pick some acorns or leaves and rest them on the mantel." Add some hurricanes filled with natural elements and candles for a quick and festive look.

"Crisp white tablecloths and napkins are all that are needed," says Sikes.

"Spicy whiskey drinks make you feel warm and festive," says Forbes, 30 under 30 designer,Lauren Geremia. 

Designer suggestions include cases of Rosé, Veuve Clicquot champagne or your own signature cocktail. "I love the idea of making something unique for that night," suggests designer Kelly Lamb.

Her go-to? "I like mixing in fresh juice, fruit and even herbs. These personal touches along with great cheese with crackers, a few finger food items and a festive play list of music are all you really need to make a fantastic party."

Be it holiday family photos, a tree decorated in vintage ornaments or decorations made by family or friends, "This is how traditions are remembered, immortalized, and passed down through the generations," says Lindsey Schwartz, of Curated by St. Charles.

Possibly one of the biggest holiday traditions, a real tree brings in a lovely aroma, one unmatched by holiday-scented candles. It should be "decorated with meaning," says Saghian.

A sure-fire way to get even the biggest Grinch in the holiday spirit.

Add some whimsy with treats. "Leave out decorative cookies in playful three tier trays," suggests Saghian.

"It's my guilty pleasure," says designer Jon Call. "Celebrated jazz musician, Charles Mingus's version is the best."
